Tenth Summoning || Video || Sometimes I hate the line I walk

[The feed starts with Nathaniel sitting at his desk, contemplatively glancing toward a few papers- notes- as he considers his words carefully, before looking up, directly into the screen and beginning to speak.]

Shortly before his departure from Adstringendum, Colonel Roy Mustang resigned from his position of Ombudsman. As this was in the height of our last event, I decided to postpone the reelection until after the panic died down a little. Having kept up with the work, I can assure any potential applicants that the workload will not be overwhelming, and I would be pleased to assist in any way I can.

It should be volunteer basis only, and the next Ombudsperson should be elected from the pool of potential volunteers. I will warn everyone who applies- it is a demanding position. However, you will get the satisfaction of helping the community decisions, as well as the opportunity to listen to many different viewpoints. I would highly encourage anyone with an interest in peace and organization to apply. You may respond to this post with any signs of interest.

[A deep breath, and Nathaniel steeples his fingers.]

Furthermore, there are a few more things regarding this 'Police Force' that I would like to address. Firstly is the name itself- I believe that it detracts from our overall goal and gives a bad impression. We are not intent on policing the people at this time, we are only concerned with protecting them. While we do intend to lock up dangerous civilians, it is only out of concern for others; and in a case where the people are altered by an event, only for the duration of the event.

We are not here to control your lives; we are here to help you live them safely. For this reason, I suggest we change the name of our organization to the 'Protection Squad'. Any further suggestions will be welcome.

[Nathaniel pauses one final time, considering his next words very carefully.]

...there have been... concerns brought to me about my level of involvement in this Protection Squad. Some believe that my assuming Jean Louis' secretary position, as well as Cabal's research division and temporarily doing the Ombudsperson's tasks, that I have been attempting to... take everything over. [He swallows hard, but forces himself to keep eye contact with the camera.] I assure you all that this is not the case. My only concerns have been with upholding the integrity of our Protection Squad- keeping it organized, keeping it running smoothly. While I... realize that my work-oriented nature does not attain me much social approval, I would like to reiterate that I will answer any and all questions and concerns.

Additionally, I would like to remind everyone that positions in the protection squad are open and on a volunteer basis- I do the amount of work that I do for lack of assistants or other volunteers. Our research positions are desperately in need of people, as well as our communications, planning, and the patrols themselves.

[Nathaniel takes another deep breath.]

Are there any requirements that volunteers need for this protection squad, or once you volunteer are you automatically a member of it without the need of expression what sort of skills we might have?

[Castiel still looks exhausted; last week's event was extremely hard on him. But it was the event itself, and what it had reminded him of, that's prompting him to reconsider this entire 'police' or 'protection' force or whatever it's going to be called now. Not the risks of such a force; he's only been reminded of them, in the worst way, but of how he should handle it.

It might be better to become more involved.]

What do the research positions entail?

[Oh yes, he listened to all of that- he listens quite well when he remembers to look over the network, but-]

Oh dear, you sound as if you could use a good cup of tea.

[He doesn't particularly like the idea of being in a position of power, but. Desperate times.]

[Anko is cynical and bitter and... probably actually not a bad addition to this, if someone can convince her to join up.]

[She's not after the role of this leader; she has her senshi and her own responsibilities. But she's definitely willing to keep supporting the newly-renamed protection squad.]

I know you're trying hard to do what's best for everyone. I'll support whoever is chosen, too.

You wouldn't be able to.

[He pauses before perhaps realizing that he should clarify.]

Take over, I mean.

[Botan's still not sure of how to address this, but still... While she busies herself with other projects, if it's to help maybe she should stop holing up back in her house. Especially after someone 'teasingly' called her a one-woman army. It felt... Weird.]

I'm not sure what I can do but I was set as an assistant back in my home world, and usually fly around the city anyway...

I see you finally got around to changing the name. It's definitely an improvement, though some will still be hung up about the original one. Human nature 'n' all that to hold grudges over what an original name could mean for the entire intention. Trust me, I know people.

I'm still wil~ling to help- despite the severe lack of trust those who judge me from first encounters have.

[Because he certainly remembers being asked- oh perhaps if only he'd forgotten.]

I'm willing to do what I can to help. Whatever that may be.

You've still got my full support, Mandrake-san- and so will any new additions.

[There's no smiles today, just a serious expression not many ever see unless there's important shit to do and he doesn't feel like acting like a goof.]

Given my position, I feel it would be unwise of me to claim any standing within this organisation. However, I am fully willing to stay in an advisorial capacity and to help out whenever needed.
