Congratulations, mister Elric on your new position as ombudsman. I look forward to working with you. [Nathaniel glances through his papers for a moment, before looking up toward the camera again.]

There's been quite a few new people. I'd like to welcome all of you- my name is John Mandrake, and I serve as the secretary for our Protection Squad. If you have any questions or concerns, I'd be honored to address them.

[He nods once and turns off the feed.]

[He nods and takes a deep breath.]

Knowing Rei, it might be better to point her in the least destructive direction than to get in her way.

Yes. Well, that would probably be the priority.

[He nods.]

But she does know a lot about how I operate and the sorts of things I'll be working on- as does Castiel. The two of them can piece together my research. I try to keep a record of everything that I do here in the event of my loss, but- some things are more important.

[A little pause, and he sighs.]

If I die, am detained, sent home, or if something happens to me, I trust you to take over my position- with the help of miss Rei- until a new secretary can be instated.

I doubt it will happen. But I promise to hold it together. Do you have any recommendations for someone who may be able to handle what you do?

[Nat bites his tongue. He'd say Jean Louis, but... he was gone. Nat didn't know of anyone else with his level of organization and concern for the population. He didn't know if there was anyone else. Slowly, he shakes his head.]

Not currently. I would look to the shinigami captains, however- miss Unohana would not accept the position, but mister Ukitake might. Raven and Rei and Castiel are all good choices- but Rei is hotheaded, Castiel lacks a certain empathy, and Raven is... complicated.

Ms. Unohana would never accept a leading position, but she's always been very valuable in terms of resources. And she's always given me wonderful advice.

Maybe Mr. Ukitake?

An excellent choice. I would go to him first.

[A slight nod.]

Would you want to talk to him about being your second?

Mm, I'm not sure.

[He glances off.]

Yes. But it isn't my choice to make.
